How to replace the battery in the AirID tag#
Updated October 19, 2026
The AirID tag runs on a CR2032 battery. It lasts about 6 months, depending on how often you use the car. When the battery is low, the app sends a Tag discharged notification.
How to open the tag#
Carefully separate the housing by prying it through the slot at the bottom. Do it over a table: the board and the battery aren't fixed and can fall out.
How to reassemble the tag with a new battery#
- Place the front part of the housing logo side down on a flat surface.
- Put the board in place components side up and press until the latches click.
- Place a new CR2032 battery positive side up.
- Cover with the back part of the housing and gently press until it fully closes.
Keep a spare battery
If the tag runs out on the road, authorize with your PIN code. If you don't remember it, see How to authorize without a tag or PIN code.
